2nd Annual School Supply Drive July 2006 During the month of July YMF organized a school supply drive to benefit a Gift for Teaching. Members gathered at O'Boys in Winter Park to collect the donated supplies. YMF collected 993 pencils, 140 pens, 34 bottles of glue, 64 packs of crayons, 125 erasers, 44 packs of paper and many more miscellaneous items. There was also $270 donated. Thank you to all of the firms who participated. The donations were dropped off and five YMF volunteers sorted supplies at the Gift for Teaching warehouse.

Beach Day June 26, 2006 For our June social a beach day was planned at Cocoa. Despite the rainy weather in Orlando several members drove out to the shore and enjoyed a sunny day in front of Coconuts.

Adopt-A-Road June 3, 2006 YMF volunteers joined together with the Structures group for our annual cleaning of Hiawassee near 50. YMF worked together to rid the highway of trash until the next ASCE group goes out in July. Thanks to everyone for their help.

St. John's River Clean-up May 13, 2006 YMF had 25 volunteers participate in this year's St. John's River Cleanup. Working together the volunteers rented canoes and spent the morning collecting trash from the river.

Walk America April 29, 2006 Three YMF volunteers walked 6.2 miles at 8 am on a Saturday morning to help raise money and awareness for premature births. Thank you to everyone who contributed money to the YMF donation.

Predators Game April 14, 2006 For the April social event, YMF combined with the Florida League of Younger Engineers for a group event. Between the two groups over 30 young engineers and their friends went to TD Waterhouse to watch the Orlando Predators win over the Georgia Force.

Kickball/BBQ March 25, 2006 In March, YMF hosted their first Saturday morning kickball game and BBQ. A competitive game of 6 on 6 took place for several hours in the morning before everyone stopped to enjoy some food.

Engineer for a Day March 24, 2006 Friday, March 24th marked the 23rd annual Engineer for a Day. YMF invited local junior and senior high students with an interest in engineering to participate in the event. Students gathered in the morning to hear various speakers and partake in a design competition. Students also submitted essays about why they were interested in engineering. A $500 scholarship was awarded to winner James Greenwood. In the afternoon students went out to local firms to see what engineers do on a daily basis. Thank you to DRMP, PB Water, Glatting Jackson Kercher Anglin Lopez Reinhart, Miller Legg, MSCW, Orlando Utilities Commission, PBS&J, Seminole County Public Works and Siemens Power Generation for hosting students for the afternoon.

Seminole County Science Fair February 18, 2006 On February 18th, Sarah Green, Ian Hinds, John Kaiser and Heather Patterson volunteered to judge the Seminole County Science Fair. ASCE YMF awarded a $350 scholarship to the best Civil Engineering related project. The recipient was 8th grader, Patrick Slane of South Seminole Middle School for his project called, "Reclaimed Water- Will It Help Save our Most Precious Resource?"

Magic vs. Heat Game February 15, 2006 The event began at the Wall Street with a happy hour before everyone continued over to the arena. Even though the Magic lost everyone enjoyed themselves.

Bowling January 19, 2006 YMF had their January social at Boardwalk Bowl. YMF invited the UCF ASCE chapter to the social giving the students a chance to interact with the younger members.

Disney Marathon January 8, 2006 On Sunday, January 8th, 20 YMF volunteers woke up at 3 am and headed down to Disney. The volunteers handed out water during the Disney Marathon to the runners. Thanks to everyone who came out in the cold to help.
