Toys for Tots
December 6, 2005
During the month of December, YMF collected toys to donate to the annual Toys for Tots Drive conducted by the Marines during the holidays.  The toys were collected jointly with the local chapter of FES and we gathered for a happy hour at Sports Town Billards.  Thank you to all the companies who helped support another YMF drive.

Second Harvest Food Drive
November 17, 2005
With help from our companies YMF donated 1296 lbs of food and $20 to the Second Harvest Food Bank.  The food was collected during happy hour at Fiddler's Green as our November social.  Thank you to all the companies who donated to the drive and to HNTB for loaning us a truck for the food collection.

ASCE National Conference
October 27-29, 2005
This fall YMF sent eight representatives to the annual National ASCE conference which was held in Los Angeles.  The trip was spent attending sessions, taking transportation or water resources tours and even a little sightseeing.  Check the pictures to see the great time that was had.

Bowling Social
October 18th, 2005
Our October social, bowling at Boardwalk Bowl, was a great success with over 20 young engineers coming out to show off their bowling skills.  Since everyone enjoyed themselves, there will be another bowling social sometime in the new year!  Congratulations to Matt Matin for winning game 1 with a score of 157 and Brandon Bobo, winner of game 2 with a score of 165.

Discover!
October 15th, 2005
In October YMF volunteered for the SWE sponsored event, Discover.  The program was created to introduce Girl Scouts to engineering and science.  YMFers Niki Crawford, Cathy Polityka, Lindy Wolfe, Heather Patterson, Julie Hartley, Sarah Greene and Michelle Everett came out to help lead workshops that showed the girls how to use the scientific method and problem solve through a variety of experiments and demonstrations.  These workshops focused on areas such as chemical reactions, engineering, electronics, light and color, etc.  Thanks again to the girls who helped SWE to inspire our future women engineers!

YMF Membership Happy Hour
September 22, 2005
With the beginning of a new year for ASCE, YMF held its annual membership happy hour.  Young engineers from all companies were invited to come and meet the 2005-2006 YMF board members and socialize with one another. The first round of drinks at the Loaded Hog was on us!  Everyone was given the opportunity to give up their first round and have the money contributed the YMF’s hurricane donation.  Between the happy hour, some personal donations and the money YMF decided to contribute, a check for $1200 was given to the American Red Cross. Pictures of the event have been posted.

A Gift for Teaching Drive and Sorting
August 2005
During the summer ASCE YMF collected school supplies for underprivileged school children in Central Florida.  YMFers collected 10323 items with the support of their companies including 1940 pencils, 5932 crayons, 256 glue bottles/sticks and 72 pencil pouches to donate to a Gift for Teaching.  The collection of supplies occurred during one of YMF's favorite social events- a happy hour to gather the donations at Fiddler's Green.  The supplies were then taken to the Gift for Teaching location.  Thanks to everyone who donated for helping making it possible for local kids to get the supplies they need for a great school year.
For our August service activity volunteers Mary Fickert, Charity Rychak, Lindy Wolfe, Matt Matin, Jen Wiewiora and Cathy Polityka worked at a Gift for Teaching to sort donations at the store.
