Central Florida Mathcounts
Saturday, February 18th
This competition is an exciting program that encourages math in the area’s middle schools (6th to 8th grades). This year’s competition will be held at Olympia High School, 4301 S Apopka Vineland Rd, Orlando, FL 32835 (http://www.olympiahigh.ocps.net/). Please mark your calendars for the date Saturday, February 18, 2012 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. We need as many volunteers as we can get. Most of the positions that need to be filled are for morning (8:00 am-12:30 pm) and we have some need for afternoon volunteers (11:30 am - 5:00 pm). So please feel free to pass this on to your friends and colleagues. If interested, please contact Karin Leissing karin.leissing@members.asce.org with your name, phone, times available, position interested (ciphering, proctor, scoring, set-up, Mathlete information, food assistant), and T-shirt size.
Odyssey of the Mind Competition
Saturday, February 25th
Volunteers are needed for the Odyssey of the Mind – Magic Center Region competition on Saturday February 25. Join YMF in judging student teams as they solve interdisciplinary problems. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. If you cannot make the mandatory judges training on Saturday February 11, there are many other volunteer opportunities. Check out the website at www.magiccenterregion.com.
